Anyone who has been to Chicago will recognize the downtown area where the demonstration took place. The backlash has started. But the "sunlight before signing" promise has already fallen by the wayside with Mr Obama signing three major bills without public scrutiny.
2.PROMISE BROKEN. Mr Obama repeatedly said he would negotiate health care reform in televised sessions broadcast on C-SPAN, the public service network. Instead, he his approach has been no different from his predecessors, holding talks behind closed doors at the White House and Congress.

Mr Obama solemnly pledged that "no political appointees in an Obama-Biden administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years". In practice, Mr Obama has granted several waivers to this rule, allowing lobbyists to serve in the top reaches of his administration.
4.PROMISE BROKEN. Mr Obama said he would end income tax for the elderly making less than $50,000 per year, thereby eliminating taxes for seven million of them. This has not been part of his economic stimulus bill, his first budget outline or any legislation proposed by the White House.
5.PROMISE STALLED. On taking office, Mr Obama announced with great fanfare that the Guantanamo Bay prison camp would be closed within a year of his inauguration on January 20th. Defence officials now concede that this self-imposed deadline will not be met.
6.PROMISE SIDELINED. Mr Obama promised to end the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy that prohibits openly gay personnel from serving in the United States armed forces. Despite reiterating the pledge this weekend, Mr Obama shows no signs of taking concrete action on the issue.
7.PROMISE BROKEN. Mr Obama said that in 2009 and 2010 "existing businesses will receive a $3,000 refundable tax credit for each additional full-time employee hired". Democrats on Capitol Hill opposed this and Mr Obama has quietly abandoned the proposal, omitting it from his list of requirements for draft legislation.
8.PROMISE BROKEN. During the campaign, Mr Obama promised that "as President I will recognise the Armenian genocide" carried out by the Ottoman Empire after 1915. Once in office, he travelled to Turkey and made no mention of genocide. In a statement in April on the memorial day for the genocide he spoke of the "heavy weight" of history and the "terrible events " of the period but failed the use the g-word.

Matthew Miller Denies Some of Blog Squad Allegations
Political hatchet man turned nonpartisan Department press spokesman Matt Miller denied the existence of the Blog Squad to the Washington Times. What Miller did NOT deny is that the Blog Squad aka Russo and others, "foster" netroots postings supporting the President and attacking media critics. They denied that the blog squad exist and that nameless postings are made. But they did not deny what everyone knows Axelrod is best at - astroturfing and farming out your dirty work. The failure to deny is a virtual admission. And these communications with third party entities are not protected and fully discoverable under the FOIA. Get all of Russo's emails to anyone not in the Department. If they don't turn them over, sue them and get monetary damages for failing to comply with the FOIA. Better hurry, she'll be deleting them once they know the FOIA is coming.Also, Miller knows better than to lay out the absurd claim that any Blog Squad activities would leave server fingerprints. Certainly he is aware of various software capabilities and web anonomizers.

Holder Spends Taxpayer Dollars to Make Political Statement
The Muffled Oar reports that Attorney General Eric Holder has been flying to select swearing in ceremonies of United States Attorneys. Holder has chosen to attend the swearing in ceremonies of US Attorneys from districts that left wing partisans have complained about - and has stuck the taxpayers with the bill. The Attorney General almost never attended previous swearing-in ceremonies. There is no role for the Attorney General at these ceremonies, except to make a political statement. For example, at a cost to the taxpayers of $17,038, Holder attended the swearing in ceremony of Joyce Vance in Birmingham, Alabama. Also on board the government jet was Monty Wilkinson, Holder’s counselor, press secretary Hannah August, and advance team member Vin Fazio. Why go to Birmingham? Because the previous US Attorney was heavily criticized by the partisan left.This isn’t the only swearing in ceremony Holder has attended at significant cost to the taxpayers. Holder also attended a swearing in ceremony for Todd Jones in Minneapolis Minnesota. Once again, the left wing had criticized the Bush US Attorney in Minnesota, Rachel Paulose.This is Holder’s way of repeating that oft-repeated central policy of the Obama Administration: I’m Not Bush. Sending that message at swearing-in ceremonies carries a heavy and totally unnecessary price tag.The Muffled Oar expects more unnecessary taxpayer funded political messages to arrive by Lear Jet for future swearing in ceremonies in Albuquerque, Kansas City, Pittsburg and Trenton – unless some people who consider themselves reporters for once proud newspapers start doing their job and start asking questions about the emerging partisan character of this Department. “Carrie Johnson, Carrie Johnson, call your office.”The Muffled Oar notes that accompanying Holder on this trip on behalf of the nonpartisan nonpolitical Justice Deparment was the nonpartisan nonpolitical Hannah August, most recently a partisan bulldog at the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee.

Obama Blog Propaganda is Government-Wide
The Washington Post today provides context to the story the Muffled Oar first broke about the aggressive DOJ Blog Squad mission. The DOJ has hired a team of bloggers to influence the blogosphere and online media. Tracy Russo, a partisan campaign blogger for John Edwards, the DNC and Obama Campaign is leading the Blog Squad at the Department of Justice. So much for a non-political Department of Justice. That dream is dead. The Muffled Oar has learned from Department sources that Russo is spending a great deal of time keeping angry gay and transgender partisans quiet and in line regarding the Department’s Defense of Marriage Act. Russo is primarily tasked with spinning the blogosphere about Obama and Holder policies by whatever means necessary. Russo’s mission is to babysit the left and get them energized, or get them quiet, depending on the issue and circumstances.Today the Washington Post demonstrates that the effort to propagandize to the blogosphere is a government-wide campaign.The essential function of this effort involves government employees spinning bloggers and keeping the left wing net-roots as a vehicle for dissemination of government spin. Direct contact with the left wing blogosphere allows the Obama administration to preserve the left leaning blog community as an activist base to support Obama policies. Engagement with the centrist media and right wing online community allows government officials to rebut stories they disagree with directly. Who is paying for this government-wide effort?: you are. Here is the important part from the Post story:White House New Media Director Macon Phillips has coordinated the hiring of online and social media experts like Roberts to redesign or launch Web 2.0 offerings across the government and update and maintain the pages for their respective agencies. Phillips' office also keeps a list of potential candidates to hire once other agencies are ready to make the jump, according to an applicant familiar with the process.A credible news organization should FOIA all communications between these Blog Squads across all Federal agencies. They should obtain salary levels, and staffing numbers as well as all emails and communications with non-governmental groups. Those emails are not protected, and will reveal much. You can be sure that all "potential candidates" will be like Russo at DOJ - a participant in the fringe-left netroots and blogosphere.The Muffled Oar broke the story how the Department of Justice is engaging in this internet propaganda effort. It is up to the rest of the media to do the work to fully expose the corruption.

One familiar approach is to contribute U.S. money to aid the government.But Pakistan's military leaders are questioning the proposed aid package of $1.5 billion a year for five years as potentially meddlesome.How to ensure the nuclear-armed country is a safe and reliable ally against terrorism is a tough one for the president.So is finding a way to deter Iran from taking the final steps to production of nuclear weapons — a goal Iran denies but most of the world does not doubt it is pursuing.If Iran does not negotiate a settlement, and the prospects appear dim right now, its power to intimidate would be expanded, and might even be used.Lurking in the background, meanwhile, is the unresolved Middle East conflict.Obama seems persuaded that Israel should give ground to the Palestinians to build a state next door, risky as that proposition might be. "House Speaker Nancy Pelosi berated town hall and tea party protesters this month, tearfully warning they'd incite violence. Well, there's been violence all right, at Pittsburgh's G-20. But it wasn't the tea partiers. It takes gall to characterize ordinary Americans, freely exercising their rights of speech and assembly in civic forums, as 'mobs' while ignoring a pack of leftist thugs now smashing a U.S. city. But that's what Pelosi did, directing her righteous tocsin to the Norman Rockwell-like gatherings of Americans who opposed her expansion of government this past summer. What originally bothered me about this whole thing was BO’s arrogance. Remember his comment about people being bitter & clinging to their guns & religion. He thinks parents are too stupid to raise their own kids & teach them good values. With all this hope & change people better cling to their guns & religion even more than ever! The other thing that bothered me was the accompanying curriculum that encouraged kids to support the president. A cult of personality arises when a country's leader uses mass media to create an idealized and heroic public image, often through unquestioning flattery and praise. Cults of personality are often found in dictatorships and Stalinist governments. A cult of personality is similar to general hero worship, except that it is created specifically for political leaders.

The speech was put through a word frequency counter and found the following results:
* 56 iterations of “I”
* 19 iterations of “school”
* 10 iterations of “education”
* 8 iterations of “responsibility”
* 7 iterations of “country”
* 5 iterations each of “parents”, “teachers”
* 3 iterations of “nation”
In other words, Barack Obama referenced himself more than school, education, responsibility, country/nation, parents, and teachers combined.

BO had a private meeting with the students prior to his televised speech that was not recorded. He spoke to them about universal healthcare. Why? When Bush 41 made his speech to students, the Democrats wailed, gnashed their teeth & investigated for wrong-doing. They found that Bush had spent 26K which apparently was shocking but not impeachable. How much did Obama’s speech, related videos and lesson plans cost? Some conjecture it was in the millions. Now, when we can ill afford to be spending money like a drunken sailor! BO is a trained manipulator. This was purely a political event sponsored by taxpayers, whether they liked it or not. I wish he had been more truthful with “the children” & showed them some charts and graphs showing the enormous debt he is going to leave for them to pay off. Since taking office 6 months ago, he has tripled the debt & we are now paying 500 million/day in interest alone.

Hope and change, huh? The only change I am seeing is more governmental intrusion into the private sector. If the government is so good at running things what happened to SS and Medicare? Have you ever wondered why he has appointed 30-40 czars? Because they do not have to be vetted by congress & we know nothing of their backgrounds & they report only to BO. The czar that recently resigned was a self avowed communist. "If the czars have high-level, decision-making authority as their titles would indicate, then it is my concern that their appointment without Senate approval represents a circumvention of our Constitutionally-mandated confirmation process." It didn’t take long for the former White House “green jobs czar” to find himself a gig after resigning under pressure for past racially inflammatory comments, radical associations, and erstwhile support for a conspiracy theory that holds the American government was responsible for the 9/11 attacks. The New York Daily News reported that Jones had been hired by the Center for American Progress, the liberal think tank led by Obama transition team boss John Podesta.

BO’s Science Czar, John Holdren, took a controversial and amoral approach to the science of population by recommending mass compulsory sterilization and even forced abortion (and/or forced marriages) under certain circumstances. His 1977 tome, Ecoscience, which he co-authored with Paul and Anne Ehrlich, also displays a revealing disregard for the institution of the traditional human family. Further, he wants to punish large families. Among other things (documented at the link above) Holdren believes in -

*forced abortions
*mass sterilizations via food/drink
*seizure of children born to single mothers
*forced sterilization of "undesirables"
*transnational planetary regime with control of the global economy

Government intrusion into the housing, financial, & auto industries clearly indicates a trend toward socialism. Merriam-Webster's primary definition of socialism is: "any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and ad-ministration of the means of production and distribution of goods." We can consider "goods" to also mean "services" such as the delivery of medical care. Obama’s disapproval on health care is up to 52 percent but he knows what we need whether we want it or not because we are too stupid to know what is good for us. Claim: Many of the uninsured are young people who think they're invincible. The National Review Institute writes: "More than half of the uninsured are between 18 and 34 years of age, a group which has relatively few expensive health issues and for whom self-insuring (paying their own medical bills) makes sense." Actually, only about 40 percent of the uninsured are between 18 and 34, according to the Census... Claim: Many of the uninsured already are eligible for public coverage. That's true – NIHCM found that in 2006, 12 million of the uninsured were eligible for Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program (formerly SCHIP) but were not enrolled...The 40 million uninsured figure is not accurate; one thing for sure is that a lot of the uninsured choose to buy a new car instead of paying for insurance, or they do not bother to register with their states for insurance if they have no income. Condemning the other 300 million people to national health care is going to be a disaster.In actuality the real number of involuntarily uninsured is about 10 million, approximately 3% of the US population. Is that really enough of a population to merit the wholesale transformation of our entire health care system and 17% of the GDP? I don't think so. Being uninsured is a transitory state and one that lasts a short time. It's not even close to being a 'crisis' on a national level. In fact the whole 'crisis' is completely manufactured as there is no problem at all regarding 'the uninsured'.

There is an element of convenient fantasy as well in Obama's health care statements to date. We are going to save money by spending money. We are going to solve our fiscal problems with a program that will increase the national debt by $1,000,000,000,000 over a decade. We are going to guarantee you can keep your current insurance with a bill that encourages your employer to stop offering it.The list goes on. We are going to improve health care for seniors by cutting $500,000,000,000 from Medicare. We aren't going to insure illegal aliens, except that we won't have any verification provisions to see that they can't apply and get benefits.

This so-called innocent and inspiring speech will be succeeded by increasingly directive speeches, as the public becomes accustomed and oblivious to his repeated school invasions. Youth brigade?

I read this post and read through the email and it made me sick. Our children are taught Socialism right away in 1st grade. As your child took pride in picking out their Spiderman or glitter laden pencils to use for school, they walk into class on that first day and the teacher takes them out of their hands. She places all the pencils nice expensive ones like yours along with cheap lead breaking ones of others into one big box...then hands them all out so that everyone can "spread the wealth" and have "social equality".

On sept. 8th Obama will be speaking live to children nation wide as he expains to them to work hard so that they can contribute to the "global economy". I want my children to contribute to their nations economy, my communities economy - not a socialist "global one world economy"!

I wonder if any of the TEACHER UNIONS will be asking their upper grade class to read, The Obama Corruption by Malkin or Catastrophe by Morris. Or would you like to bet they will be reading propaganda books about the struggles of a black man in America and how he was able to rise above the opression of the white man to overcome and become President? I suppose they will leave out about his years of community organizing for the most corrupt organization - ACORN? Or possibly how he has appointed over 30 CZARS of whom all are either Marxist, Communists, Socialists, or in the very least Extreem Radicals! Do you think they will educate the children that they are lucky to have lived during a time when their parents were able to choose how many children they can have? Because according to our Science Czar Lloyd, he believes the consititution does not put a limit on Americans as to how may kids they can have. In fact, he feels we should follow the leader of such countries as China who limit couples to have only 1 child because of overpopulation. In fact he also has a written in his book that he favors sterilant in the drinking water to control population.

I wonder if the teachers will inform their children that they should avoid exposing Obama for any corrupt activity should they lose their jobs like Inspector General Walpen who was fired and told he was "confused" in his old age when he exposed corrupt dealings between himself an a Governor.

This is an unprecidented act to being the school year with a presidential address which in my opinion is to indocterinate our children! To pawn them off as part of the youth bregade of the future!

Hello All,

By now you have probably heard that President Obama came to Montana last Friday. However, there are many things that the major news has not covered. I feel that since Bill and I live here and we were at the airport on Friday I should share some facts with you. Whatever you decide to do with the information is up to you. If you chose to share this email with others I do ask that you DELETE my email address before you forward this on.

On Wednesday, August 5th it was announced locally that the President would be coming here. There are many groups here that are against his healthcare and huge spending so those groups began talking and deciding on what they were going to do. The White House would not release ANY details other than the date.

On about Tuesday Bill found out that they would be holding the "Town Hall" at the airport. (This is only because Bill knows EVERYONE at the airport) Our airport is actually located outside of Belgrade (tiny town) in a very remote location. Nothing is around there. They chose to use a hangar that is the most remotely located hangar. You could not pick a more remote location, and you can not get to it easily. It is totally secluded from the public.
FYI: We have many areas in Belgrade and Bozeman which could have held a large amount of folks with sufficient parking. (gymnasiums/auditoriums). All of which have chairs and tables, and would not have to be SHIPPED IN!! $$$$$
During the week, cargo by the TONS was being shipped in constantly. Airport employees could not believe how it just kept coming. Though it was our President coming several expressed how excessive it was, especially during a recession. $$$$$

Late Tuesday/early Wednesday the 12th, they said that tickets would be handed out on Thursday 9am at two locations and the president would be arriving around 12:30 Friday.

Thursday morning about 600 tickets were passed out. However, 1500 were printed at a Local printing shop per White House request. Hmmmm......900 tickets just DISAPPEARED.
This same morning someone called into the radio from the local UPS branch and said that THOUSANDS of Dollars of Lobster were shipped in for Obama. Montana has some of the best beef in the nation!!! And it would have been really wonderful to help out the local economy. Anyone heard of the Recession?? Just think...with all of the traveling the White House is doing. $$$$$ One can only imagine what else we are paying for.

On Friday Bill and I got out to the airport about 10:45am. The groups that wanted to protest Obama's spending and healthcare had gotten a permit to protest and that area was roped off. But that was not to be. A large bus carrying SEIU (Service Employees International Union) members drove up onto the area (illegal)and unloaded right there. It was quite a commotion and there were specifically 2 SEIU men trying to make trouble and start a fight. Police did get involved and arrested the one man but they said they did not have the manpower to remove the SEIU crowd.
The SEIU crowd was very organized and young. About 99% were under the age of 30 and they were not locals! They had bullhorns and PROFESSIONALLY made signs. Some even wore preprinted T-shirts. Oh, and Planned Parenthood folks were with them.....professing abortion rights with their T-shirts and preprinted signs. (BTW, all these folks did have a permit to protest in ANOTHER area)

Those against healthcare/spending moved away from the SEIU crowd to avoid confrontation. They were orderly and respectful. Even though SEIU kept coming over and walking through, continuing to be very intimidating and aggressive at the direction of the one SEIU man.

So we had Montana folks from ALL OVER the state with their homemade signs and their DOGS with homemade signs. We had cowboys, nurses, doctors you name it. There was even a guy from Texas who had been driving through. He found out about the occasion, went to the store, made a sign, and came to protest.

If you are wondering about the press.....Well, all of the major networks were over by that remote hangar I mentioned. They were conveniently parked on the other side of the buildings FAR away. None of these crowds were even visible to them. I have my doubts that they knew anything about the crowds.
We did have some local news media around us from this state and Idaho. Speaking of the local media...they were invited. However, all questions were to be turned into the White House in advance of the event. Wouldn't want anyone to have to think off the top of their head.

It was very obvious that it was meant to be totally controlled by the White House. Everything was orchestrated down to the last detail to make it appear that Montana is just crazy for Obama and government healthcare. Even those people that talked about their insurance woes.........the White House called our local HRDC (Human Resource and Development Committee) and asked for names. Then the White House asked those folks to come. Smoke and mirrors...EVERYTHING was staged!!!!!!!!!!!

I am very dismayed about what I learned about our current White House. The amount of control and manipulation was unbelievable. I felt I was not living in the United States of America, more like the USSR!! I was physically nauseous. Bill and I have been around when Presidents or Heads of State visit. It has NEVER been like this. I am truly very frightened for our country. America needs your prayers and your voices. If you care about our country please get involved. Know the issues. And let Congress hear your voices again and again!! If they are willing to put forth so much effort to BULLY a small town one can only imagine what is going on in Washington DC. Scary!!

Protect freedoms:
I recently attended a forum on Obamacare in hopes of gaining information. Not opinion, but facts. I have sacrificed hours to research the bill before the U.S. House and was very concerned at what I have read. I left the forum very disappointed in my representatives.

I heard "facts" quoted that I already knew were not factual because of my research. I even heard from their mouths that we have to get this bill passed at any cost, all while not knowing what the final bill will include, as a final draft has not been completed. This is no different than our bank expecting us to sign on the dotted line of a mortgage contract before it is even fully drafted. How can anyone know they want to support something that isn't even done yet? If they don't care what is in the bill, Americans should wonder what is this really all about.

I was further troubled when a question was posed by a local pastor who read into the microphone asking when we are going to do something to get the "Rush Limbaughs" off the air. I could not believe that the same man who relies on the freedom of speech to preach his sermon every Sunday was asking for that freedom to be removed from another American! I was even more shocked by the applause of those in attendance.

Have we gone so far from the founding of our great nation that we clap for anything we think sounds good, as opposed to what is in line with our Constitution, Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence? I was even more concerned by the buoyant head-bobbing from the so-called panel, the ones who are in their position to protect these previously mentioned documents and our freedoms.

The Death Czar’s first official act will be spending $2 billion in taxpayer dollars to hire a Brazilian company, which will extract organs from Americans after they receive their end-of-life counseling, then ship them overseas for use in foreign patients.

It is interesting to me how Pelosi and others in gov't are constantly pointing their fingers at those who oppose Obama care as Hired and bussed in. Hmmm? Well, where is my check! Don't know?... well, maybe this will clear it up for you.

In case you haven't already noticed the blinding fact of hypocrisy but the democrats and leaders in Congress...let me lay it out for you plainly. First, if you are a Christian - you are not allowed to pray. But if you are Muslim, they set up a rug and a compass so you can do your prayers. If you are a member of gov't paid ACORN out to protest for freedom of Choice you are praised as exercising your 1st amendment rights to free speech. If you report the facts and go as a common citizen to a town hall meeting, you are a: Nazi, Right-wing Radical, KKK, Racist, Un-American, Fringe, Angry Mob, and diss-informed! Not only that, but you get to have your name sent to flag@whitehouse.gov for giving out any fishy information.

The govt is PAYING people to go to these town hall meetings to fight for obamacare. Yep! Don't believe me? Take a look at this... http://tiny.cc/oOSfi But who is paying for the senior citizens, veterans, stay at home moms, average Americans? No one. We fight this because the bill has nothing to do with health care or a revision of health insurance. It has everything to do with a GREAT BIG POWER GRAB BY GOVT!

Don't believe me? Well explain to me why there is mandated END OF LIFE counseling in the bill. They say that this is because they want medicare to pay for the doctor to give you that counsel. My mother passed away a little over a year ago. The doctor and nurses did the counsel without this bill!! The bill will put huge pressure on seniors to sign the DNR forms and living will forms.

Another infringement on your freedom...in home counseling for low income families. Yep, we get to have a gov't official come counsel us on age appropriate activities. However, consider this. The czar advising Obama on health care, Rom Imanuel believes that a "fetus" is not a human being up until the point that it can understand the concept of a tomorrow! He also is stated to say that if in fact a fetus is given the proper food and proper upbringing that it MAY in fact grow to BECOME A HUMAN BEING! You think I'm making this up? I wish I were. Just do a bit of googleing on the current czars. This may take some time as of last count there are 44 of them!

So, not only is the govt PAYING people to support obamacare, they are sending SEIU union thugs to beat down those who oppose obamacare. Just last week, 4 SEIU Purple Shirts beat and kicked a black man for giving out DON'T TREAD ON ME flags at a town hall meeting. They called him a N***er, and then proceeded to beat him to the point of his having to go to the ER and spend the night in the hospital.

Townhalls are being stacked with SEIU Union Thugs and blocking out their own constituents. SEIU are allowed in a back or side door, while the American public waits and the front. Then when the town hall doors open, conveniently for the Senators, the room is already full will paid SEIU union members.

Then, a man questioned his senator about how obamacare will take away the right of his handicapped son to receive medical care as the bill would ration care to those deemed worthy of the expense. No this is not "disinformation". This is true as one of the Czars assisting Obama has created a "life-scale" to measure how and where the best financial cuts and pay outs can be made. This scale will give preference to those who are teenagers to age 50. The very young and the old will be last on the list and rationed. This man who confronted his senator is receiving death threats and is being visited by thugs in the middle of the night threatening his safety.

Lastly, a stay at home mom in PA questioned Senator Arlon Spector, asking what he will do to try to return our nation back to the way our forefathers intended according to the constitution. She is now receiving death threats via her private email account and cell phone. She was also demonized on NBC last night and called a liar even though there is tons of evidence that obama does indeed want a single payer health care option. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpAyan1fXCE ... when she referenced this very video, the NBC reporter called her a liar and said that Obama NEVER said those words. Hmmm? Really?

I guess in this administration if Obama walks in the room and commands, "You don't see me" then everyone in that room should look around in awe and say, "where did Obama go? I can't see him?" This is INSANITY!

I would have never believed this country could come to this point, and believe me - 8 months ago I was blissfully unaware of all this. This healthcare battle is no longer just about healthcare, but is a battle for our very liberty. This administration is not afraid to bust a few knees to get it's bills passed.

We must stop this healthcare bill! This is a very sinister bill, and let me tell you they will even get access to your personal bank account if this bill passes. Shortly after April 17th of this year, I called my mother, who lives in Maine, breathless and excited. Canada passed an amendment to Canada's Citizenship Act which automatically restored Canadian nationality to many people forced to renounce it when they became citizens of another country. It also granted citizenship to their children. I was already scared to death of what Obama would do to our great country so I saw a way out. In my heart, I had always been a proud Franco-American but now had access to my great Canadian roots. The big question I had for my mom was; did she become a US citizen before or after I was born?? Turns out she was naturalized about a month before I was born. Bummer. I didn't qualify to take back my Canadian citizenship. She, however was!! Back in the 60's and before, if you were accepted as a citizen in one country, you had to denounce your citizenship in the country of your origin. I applaud Canada for rectifying this on April 17th.

I thought my mother would be as thrilled as I was for her. Didn't quite turn out to be the case. She was less than excited. You know why? Because of the stories she had heard from friends and relatives still living in Canada about Canada's nationalized health care program. She had heard some sad tales. Stories of elderly people being denied health services because they were going to kick the bucket soon anyway. Stories of people having to wait for months and months for cancer treatment until the had reached the point of no return. Stories of people sneaking over the border into Maine to try to buy groceries for half the cost it was in Canada. No way was she going to head back to Canada. She had become a proud US citizen and never more proud than when George Bush was President. She felt he was a good Christian conservative man that did the best he could under the awful circumstances he had to deal with and she respected his not caving into polls or popularity contest but guiding from his God given principles.

This conversation with my mother transpired in April. Long before the Obama Care plan came to light. And long before she discovered she has a heart condition and a blood pressure condition and a kidney condition. I now must make a point of calling my poor old French Mom and explaining what Obama Care means and see if she wants to fight this with me or face another Canadian health care crisis in her country of choise, the US, when it comes to health care.

Senior citizens who went to a meeting sponsored by AARP were left to themselves after the AARP hostess walked out. The seniors were trying to get answers concerning ObamaCare and why AARP would support a government controlled health system that many believe would lead to euthanasia and rationing of health care.

Why would AARP, the nation's largest group, supposedly working for the elderly, support an ObamaCare bill? Here is what Dick Morris, former advisor to President Clinton, said: "The interest groups that usually speak up for the elderly, particularly AARP, are in Obama's pocket, hoping to profit from his program by becoming one of its vendors. Just as they backed Bush's prescription drug plan because they anticipated profiting from it, so they are now helping Obama gut the medical care of their constituents."

Like the National Education Association, AARP has been taken over by liberals. With millions of members, AARP is using its clout to push ObamaCare on the elderly, even if it includes euthanasia. AARP supported homosexual marriage by opposing Prop 8 in California.

Everyone should be busy fighting against the current health care legislation being proposed. We are now coming down to a critical time in the fight with back door deals being made by more moderate Republicans.

The hope is that both houses of Congress leave for August recess and listen to the will of their constituents. This one month will be key to the future of our country and preventing another failed government program; one that promises to be the most destructive in our country's history.

As the August recess approaches beware of the Libs of August. Many of you will contact your legislators in an all out push to defeat this legislation. They will be employing all kinds of political tricks and rhetoric, don't be fooled by any of it and stay on message.

The main question to ask them is; How will you be voting on this legislation? – You want a simple yes or no answer.

If they reply that they don’t know or haven’t decided then stay on them with the facts and don’t let up. They have to come back from their recess knowing voting for this legislation will have very negative consequences for them in 2010 and beyond.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

1. This is not about compromising on Healthcare legislation, it is about defeating it completely because it is a terrible piece of legislation.

2. Legislators need to find solutions that address fixing Medicare and Medicaid and not expanding an already broken and flawed entitlement program which has become the main reason for the increased cost of medical care in this country. Government needs to start thinking about getting out of the healthcare business and applying free market principles to healthcare.

3. No one is currently denied medical treatment in our country. There is a difference between being uninsured and being denied healthcare. If this legislation were to be passed, it is ironic that the opposite would be true. We would all have insurance, but would be denied the healthcare we need and the decisions on who would receive treatment would be taken out of the hands of the patient and doctor.

4. There is no rush to pass any Healthcare legislation. Polls consistently indicate that the majority of Americans who have insurance are generally satisfied with their coverage. No system is perfect, but ours is the best in the world.

5. The cost of this expanded entitlement is prohibitive. Nothing is free and it will be paid for in increased taxes and cutbacks in healthcare delivery. Yet no one who supports it has been either honest or forthcoming with the facts of the true costs.

6. The intrusiveness into the doctor/patient relationship is unacceptable. Further, government access to our bank accounts and personal medical records is an extreme invasion of privacy.
7. The many mandatory parts of this legislation, including End of Life Counseling, decisions made by bureaucrats on who will live and die, the tax penalties for both individuals and businesses who fail to comply, and on and on, make this legislation more about building government power over the lives of citizens than about healthcare.

8. The exemption from this plan of members of Congress & Senate as well as Liberal special interest groups is a travesty and insult to the intelligence of all taxpaying Americans. That some should receive special treatment, especially those who are supposed to represent our best interests, smacks of what it is; self-indulgent patronage and it will be paid for by the very taxpayers who will be denied their choice of healthcare. Further, any inclusion of community organizations in the healthcare process is completely unacceptable.

We've Figured Him Out

Why is President Barack Obama in such a hurry to get his socialized medicine bill passed?

Because he and his cunning circle realize some basic truths:

The American people in their unimaginable kindness and trust voted for a pig in a poke in 2008. They wanted so much to believe Barack Obama was somehow better and different from other ultra-leftists that they simply took him on faith.

They ignored his anti-white writings in his books. They ignored his quiet acceptance of hysterical anti-American diatribes by his minister, Jeremiah Wright.

They ignored his refusal to explain years at a time of his life as a student. They ignored his ultra-left record as a "community organizer," Illinois state legislator, and Senator.

The American people ignored his total zero of an academic record as a student and teacher, his complete lack of scholarship when he was being touted as a scholar.

Now, the American people are starting to wake up to the truth. Barack Obama is a super likeable super leftist, not a fan of this country, way, way too cozy with the terrorist leaders in the Middle East, way beyond naïveté, all the way into active destruction of our interests and our allies and our future.

The American people have already awakened to the truth that the stimulus bill -- a great idea in theory -- was really an immense bribe to Democrat interest groups, and in no way an effort to help all Americans.

Now, Americans are waking up to the truth that ObamaCare basically means that every time you are sick or injured, you will have a clerk from the Department of Motor Vehicles telling your doctor what he can and cannot do.

The American people already know that Mr. Obama's plan to lower health costs while expanding coverage and bureaucracy is a myth, a promise of something that never was and never will be -- a bureaucracy lowering costs in a free society. Either the costs go up or the free society goes away.

These are perilous times. Mrs. Hillary Clinton, our Secretary of State, has given Iran the go-ahead to have nuclear weapons, an unqualified betrayal of the nation. Now, we face a devastating loss of freedom at home in health care. It will be joined by controls on our lives to "protect us" from global warming, itself largely a fraud if believed to be caused by man.

Mr. Obama knows Americans are getting wise and will stop him if he delays at all in taking away our freedoms.

There is his urgency and our opportunity. Once freedom is lost, America is lost. Wake up, beloved America.

America’s extreme left tricked American moderates into supporting their candidate last November by campaigning on post-partisan cooperation and transparency in government. Six months after the election of a freshman senator with a blank résumé, a laundry list of evil associates and a life more secret than your average CIA agent, Obama’s entire history remains a mystery and his administration is the most hardcore partisan dictatorship ever experienced in the USA.

Washington DC partisanship has turned into outright Obama-Pelosi dictatorship. The so-called “Commander-in-Chief” is fast losing control of his military, which is increasingly and viciously divided between those who are refusing to take orders from an overt enemy of the Constitution, and those who foolishly defend Obama’s right to destroy that which they took an oath to protect and preserve.

Obama should have ended the divisions over his ineligibility long before it reached the ranks of American fighting forces. He chose not to, and instead to allow the issue to fester into a powder keg that even Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod are ill-prepared to extinguish.

The US Constitution is in FULL Crisis
The US Constitution is the contract between the people and their respective states, and the federal government established by it. The document was written to form a representative republic limited in power and scope to the matters and authority delegated and ratified in the Constitution. That contract has been breached by a runaway Fed…

Decades of outright destruction of the Constitution have left the nation on the brink of economic, political and social collapse. The 2006 and 2008 election cycles placed the Constitution in full crisis and the people are growing increasingly desperate for a peaceful means to restore their Constitutional Republic.

An administration which does not meet constitutional standards is expected to protect and defend a contract which it does not even recognize, much less respect. The contract either stands, or it doesn’t. Based on the 2008 election, and every policy put in place since, the contract does not stand at present. If the Constitution no longer stands, then the federal government which it established, no longer stands in authority. Tyranny reigns…

The States Take Action
Ignored by federal public servants and cut off from any access to peaceful means of redress in congress or the courts, the people and their states are forced to take matters into their own hands.

A “constitutional” interpretation of the Constitution is in order, as the people begin to demand that a runaway Fed blatantly acting against the best interest of its people, return to a constitutional foundation, or risk being stripped of all power and abolished.

The federal government is the product of the Constitution, the contract between the people and their states which established and assigned specific limited powers to the federal government, which is to serve at the pleasure of the states and the people.

If the Constitution no longer stands, then there is NO federal government. The federal government exists only as a result of the Constitution. A very real crisis is at hand…

As a result, more than 32 states are rushing to pass Tenth Amendment legislation intended to remind the federal government of this reality. But the Obama regime is not listening.

Many of those states are also passing Second Amendment protections for their citizens, making it illegal for the Fed to threaten private gun rights, even in cases of “Martial Law.” But the Fed has rejected all such state bills, claiming that “federal laws supersede state laws.”

Reacting to an “unconstitutional” letter from Obama’s ATF, which puts Tennessee on notice that the Fed will not recognize laws passed by the individual states under Tenth Amendment rights, Tennessee State Rep. Matthew Hill points out, --“Montana, Tennessee and all others, are SOVEREIGN states not subservient to the federal government. The Fed can send us letters all day long and it doesn’t change the fact that we are allowed to govern ourselves, under the 10th amendment of the US Constitution.”

A “constitutional” interpretation of the Constitution
All constitutional text must be read within the context of Amendment Ten… which clearly states, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.”

Does the Constitution delegate the power to “confiscate and redistribute private wealth” to the federal government?

Does it delegate power to force “Cap and Trade” or so-called “Universal Health Care” upon the people and the states?

Does it delegate the power over private industry, such as banking, auto manufacturing, energy and the likes? – Or the power to disarm American citizens under any set of circumstances, real or imaginary?

No such powers were delegated to the federal government under the US Constitution. Unlike many ill-informed US citizens, Obama & Co. knows it. But they don’t care…

Since no clause exists in the Constitution which specifically assigns any of these powers to the Fed, Amendment Ten applies… “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.”

The Second Amendment Example
Each clause of the Constitution must be read within the context of the Tenth Amendment. Power and authority is either specifically delegated to the Fed in the text of the Constitution, specifically withheld from the Fed by way of the Bill of Rights, or in the absence of any such reference to power and authority, the Tenth Amendment applies.

In the case of gun rights, the Founders specifically denied the Fed any power via the Bill of Rights, specifically prohibiting the Fed from playing around with the people’s right to keep and bear arms.

“A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” –

Yet, operating in direct contradiction to this Second Amendment language, the federal government has assumed a power not assigned to it by the states, to regulate the right of the people to keep and bear arms. A case of the people’s past silence, being intentionally misinterpreted as their consent, which allowed the fed to step across boundaries it is specifically prohibited from crossing in the Bill of Rights.

As a result, the states have been forced to restate their border sovereignty and state rights in new state sponsored legislation, including Second Amendment protections for their citizens who wish to keep and bear arms, whether anti-second amendment leftists in Washington DC like it or not.

My home state of Tennessee passed both Tenth Amendment and Second Amendment legislation, supported in such number as to override our Democrat governor’s attempts to veto.

But Obama’s Fed responded by issuing a letter, under his Justice Department headed by Obama buddy Eric Holder, on the letterhead of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms signed by Assistant Director Carson Carroll, advising the state that “federal laws supersede states laws.”

Like hell they do!

The states DO NOT serve at the pleasure of the Fed. The Fed exists and serves at the pleasure of the states, a FACT that most states seem in a rush to point out to Obamanation.

The US Constitution supersedes both state and federal laws. Don’t confuse the US Constitution with federal laws, passed by congress or passed by judicial fiat via the courts. Federal laws take precedent over state laws ONLY in matters specifically delegated to the federal government in the Constitution. If no such authority is assigned to the Fed, then no such power exists at the Fed.

When the federal government makes laws pertaining to matters NOT assigned to it under the US Constitution, which it has had a habit of doing for decades now, both in congress and in the judicial branch, the states are in NO WAY bound by those laws. Those laws are by definition, unconstitutional, no matter how they were passed.
As the Second Amendment makes it quite clear that the federal government has NO power to regulate the people’s right to keep and bear arms, and the Tenth Amendment clearly states that “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.”- Obama’s Fed, Justice Department and ATF, have NO constitutional authority over the states in the matter…

Tennessee State Rep. Matthew Hill is exactly right. They (the Fed) can send threatening letters all day long and those letters are completely irrelevant, as they are at odds with the Constitution. The ATF letter relates to federal laws written on matters NOT assigned to the federal government to begin with, matters therefore reserved to the states and the people under the Tenth Amendment.

Even the overly politicized US Supreme Court has recently defended Second and Tenth Amendment rights in its related rulings.

The Question of Enforcement
Clearly, Obama and Co. think they won the right to run roughshod over the states and the people last fall. If our Founders had given us a pure democracy, they would be right. But in a Constitutional Representative Republic, they are dead wrong!

Still, it’s also clear that they intend to force their will upon the masses, regardless of public or state dissent, or constitutional limitations. The “silent majority” has been silent for so long, that modern leftist think that they are now the new majority, free to run roughshod over the new “silent minority.”

Under this fantasy, they proclaim the right to ram their leftist agenda down everyone else’s throat. “We won - you lost—so shut up and take it!”… is the general sentiment displayed by O-bots on message boards across the blogosphere…

That sentiment has now reached within the ranks of the US Military, where a growing number of soldiers are beginning to challenge Obama’s right to issue orders and Obama minions are publicly attacking them with a vengeance. The heated chatter got so vicious on Military.com last week, that the publication removed ALL comments on the subject from its web site before the discussion could spin out of control.

Active duty soldiers are refusing Obama orders. Reservists are refusing recall and deployment orders. Retired Navy Commander Walter Fitzpatrick has filed criminal “treason” charges against Obama. Flight Surgeon, Lt. Col. Dr. David Earl-Graeff has sent a letter to Sec. of Defense Gates, stating the following…

“Enough is enough! You must be aware at this point of the tempest brewing among the Rank and File. I am writing you in an effort to appeal to your sense of concern for the Military; a concern we share not only for the Military as a whole but for each and every individual who wears the Uniform in the Service of our Country. I am in this regard specifically asking you for your help. I implore you to not wait until the “pot boils over” and we find ourselves in total disarray. –

I am convinced, beyond any doubt, that the moral well being and efficiency of our fighting forces to defend our Country is soon to be hanging in a precarious balance if not already. In my humble estimation this is NOT a theoretical possibility to construct a thesis or a contingency plan about. It is a reality and is happening right now. Resolution of this issue must be accomplished in the most expeditious manner available at your disposal to gain immediate relief to those of us who are struggling to fully comply with our sworn Oath to the Constitution while being conflicted by questions relating to the qualifications of the POTUS to hold the office in full and absolute compliance with the Natural Born Citizen Clause.”

So, how does Obama plan to enforce his global vision upon the masses when the US Constitution which provides for a federal government, delegates no such authority and an increasing number of soldiers and law enforcement are taking a stand against a “potential domestic enemy” in an effort to uphold their oath to protect and defend the US Constitution?

Once Silent running out of Tolerance
Convinced that the Constitution is under constant threat from within today, Americans normally happy to avoid the subject of politics altogether are building a head of steam to thwart the current constitutional crisis. They are erecting lines of defense at the state borders before Obama can capitalize on one of his many manufactured disasters by removing the people’s right to stand opposed.

His Department of Homeland Security has already redefined “domestic terrorist” to include anyone who disagrees with Obama. His minions have already labeled anyone concerned with the Constitution, “birthers,” in a childish name-calling effort to silence the dissent. His left-wing press has affixed the title of “racist” to anyone who dare doubt Obama’s anti-American Marxist agenda, or his mystery messiah status.

Pelosi has made certain that Republicans have no voice in congress and Holder has made certain that the people will not find a legal forum to resolve Obama’s overt agenda or hidden past in any court.

Growing increasingly desperate to restore the Constitution and fast running out of peaceful means of doing so, the people find themselves in a very real Constitutional Crisis.

Peacefully Forcing the Fed to Reverse Course
With a tone deaf Fed, the people are turning to their state legislators and the states are moving to close down the Fed. Led by the Tenth Amendment Center, state legislators are rushing to reclaim freedom and liberty on behalf of their citizens.

•Step One – Tenth Amendment Affirmation

•Step Two – Second Amendment Affirmation

•Step Three – Kicking the Fed out of the States

•Step Four – Shutting down the Fed by cutting off 97% of Fed funding by repeal of the 16th Amendment

•Step Five – Repeal of the 17th Amendment, removing every current member of the senate and sending new representatives of states right to establish a new constitutional senate.

•Step Six – cleaning house in Washington DC and establishing a constitutional limited government which will once again serve at the pleasure and benefit of the states and the people
Unlike drug rehab, it doesn’t take twelve steps to reinstate a constitutional Fed, although it could take a twelve step program to break many modern Democrats addiction to free-stuff from the public trough.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government...”

If the people fail to quickly alter a Fed run wild, via their state legislatures, they will be left with no option but to abolish and start over from scratch.

Republicans in Washington DC have either lost their way or lost their nerve. As a result, they have lost all power.

But Republicans, Independents and even Blue Dog Democrats across the nation in state legislatures, are acting in defense of their citizens and the Constitution, and the people MUST take a stand with those state legislators, immediately.

Contact your state legislators and get behind their efforts to affirm state sovereignty and rights. Even Obama does not have the power to force his will upon fifty states who stand united and opposed!

Americans for Prosperity - Wisconsin (AFP-WI) participated in Taxpayer Tea Parties last week in Hudson, Siren, and New Richmond, WI. Over 3,000 people attended the Appleton Taxpayer Tea Party sponsored by The Fox Valley Initiative and co-sponsored by AFP-WI and the Wisconsin Prosperity Network. The mood was electric!

The Appleton Post Crescent quoted AFP-WI State Director, Mark Block, "...Tea parties were starting to have an effect on federal government. Congress is listening," he said. "I don't know if our friends in Madison are."

In an article published Saturday, July 25, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel said Mark Block, the Wisconsin state director for the conservative Americans for Prosperity, is throwing "tea parties" across the state to protest the recent levels of spending in Washington. And many of the people who attend are expressing concerns about the health care bill currently being debated, he said. "It's a government-mandated takeover of the health care system, and they're very concerned about it," Block said.

Wisconsin's 3rd District Congressman Ron Kind (D-LaCrosse) and other moderate Democrats in the House are playing starring roles in the evolving congressional debate over health care reform.

How Can Someone Who Lives in Insane Luxury Be a Star in Today's World?

As I begin to write this, I 'slug' it, as we writers say, which means I put a heading on top of the document to identify it. This heading is 'eonlineFINAL,' and it gives me a shiver to write it. I have been doing this column for so long that I cannot even recall when I started. I loved writing this column so much for so long I came to believe it would never end..

It worked well for a long time, but gradually, my changing as a person and the world's change have overtaken it. On a small scale, Morton's, while better than ever, no longer attracts as many stars as it used to. It still brings in the rich people in droves and definitely some stars. I saw Samuel L. Jackson there a few days ago, and we had a nice visit, and right before that, I saw and had a splendid talk with Warren Beatty in an elevator, in which we agreed that Splendor in the Grass was a super movie.. But Morton's is not the star galaxy it once was, though it probably will be again..

Beyond that, a bigger change has happened. I no longer think Hollywood stars are terribly important. They are uniformly pleasant, friendly people, and they treat me better than I deserve to be treated. But a man or woman who makes a huge wage for memorizing lines and reciting them in front of a camera is no longer my idea of a shining star we should all look up to.

How can a man or woman who makes an eight-figure wage and lives in insane luxury really be a star in today's world, if by a 'star' we mean someone bright and powerful and attractive as a role model? Real stars are not riding around in the backs of limousines or in Porsches or getting trained in yoga or Pilates and eating only raw fruit while they have Vietnamese girls do their nails.

They can be interesting, nice people, but they are not heroes to me any longer. A real star is the soldier of the 4th Infantry Division who poked his head into a hole on a farm near Tikrit , Iraq . He could have been met by a bomb or a hail of AK-47 bullets. Instead, he faced an abject Saddam Hussein and the gratitude of all of the decent people of the world..

A real star is the U.S. soldier who was sent to disarm a bomb next to a road north of Baghdad . He approached it, and the bomb went off and killed him.

A real star, the kind who haunts my memory night and day, is the U.S. soldier in Baghdad who saw a little girl playing with a piece of unexploded ordinance on a street near where he was guarding a station. He pushed her aside and threw himself on it just as it exploded... He left a family desolate in California and a little girl alive in Baghdad

The stars who deserve media attention are not the ones who have lavish weddings on TV but the ones who patrol the streets of Mosul even after two of their buddies were murdered and their bodies battered and stripped for the sin of trying to protect Iraqis from terrorists.

We put couples with incomes of $100 million a year on the covers of our magazines. The noncoms and officers who barely scrape by on military pay but stand on guard in Afghanistan and Iraq and on ships and in submarines and near the Arctic Circle are anonymous as they live and die.

I am no longer comfortable being a part of the system that has such poor values, and I do not want to perpetuate those values by pretending that who is eating at Morton's is a big subject.

There are plenty of other stars in the American firmament...the policemen and women who go off on patrol in South Central and have no idea if they will return alive; the orderlies and paramedics who bring in people who have been in terrible accidents and prepare them for surgery; the teachers and nurses who throw their whole spirits into caring for autistic children; the kind men and women who work in hospices and in cancer wards.

Think of each and every fireman who was running up the stairs at the World Trade Center as the towers began to collapse. Now you have my idea of a real hero.

I came to realize that life lived to help others is the only one that matters. This is my highest and best use as a human. I can put it another way. Years ago, I realized I could never be as great an actor as Olivier or as good a comic as Steve Martin...or Martin Mull or Fred Willard--or as good an economist as Samuelson or Friedman or as good a writer as Fitzgerald. Or even remotely close to any of them.

But I could be a devoted father to my son, husband to my wife and, above all, a good son to the parents who had done so much for me. This came to be my main task in life. I did it moderately well with my son, pretty well with my wife and well indeed with my parents (with my sister's help). I cared for and paid attention to them in their declining years. I stayed with my father as he got sick, went into extremis and then into a coma and then entered immortality with my sister and me reading him the Psalms.

This was the only point at which my life touched the lives of the soldiers in Iraq or the firefighters in New York . I came to realize that life lived to help others is the only one that matters and that it is my duty, in return for the lavish life God has devolved upon me, to help others He has placed in my path. This is my highest and best use as a human.

Faith is not believing that God can. It is knowing that God will.

Why No Evangelical Justice?

When Republicans were warned not to give Sonia Sotomayor the drubbing Democrats gave Robert Bork and Sam Alito -- lest they be perceived as sexist and racist by women and Hispanics -- the threat was credible, for it underscored a new reality in American politics.

The Supreme Court, far from being the last redoubt of the White Anglo-Saxon Protestant in America, reflects the collapse of that WASP establishment, and a rising racial, ethnic and gender consciousness and solidarity.

Consider. In 45 years, no Democratic president has put a single white Protestant or Catholic man or woman on the court.

Six nominees have been sent to Congress by Democrats since 1964: Thurgood Marshall, an African-American, four Jewish nominees -- Arthur Goldberg, Abe Fortas, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer -- and one wise Latina woman. Not since JFK put All-American Byron "Whizzer" White on in 1962 have Democrats elevated a white Christian.

What about the Republicans?

Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford nominated seven to the court. All were white, all were male, all were Protestant: Warren Burger, Clement Haynsworth, Harrold Carswell, Harry Blackmun, Lewis Powell, William Rehnquist and John Paul Stevens. No diversity there.

And from almost every standpoint, Nixon and Ford failed.

Two of Nixon's nominees, Haynsworth and Carswell, were rejected. Three of the four Nixon appointees who were elevated -- Burger, Blackmun and Powell -- voted for Roe v. Wade, which Blackmun wrote. Only Rehnquist turned out to be a stellar justice, among the best in a century.

Nixon had intended to appoint the first woman, Mildred Lillie of California, but was dissuaded by late resistance.

Ford's lone choice, John Paul Stevens, was approved unanimously, went to the court, turned left and has anchored the liberal wing for 34 years.

With Reagan, nearly three decades ago, Republican presidents became more ecumenical.

His first pick, as promised, was a woman, Sandra Day O'Connor. His second was the first Italian-American ever to sit on the high court, Antonin Scalia. His third was Bork, a Protestant. When Bork was rejected, Reagan chose Douglas Ginsburg, a Jewish judge and colleague of Bork's on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. When Ginsburg was pulled because of a marijuana incident in college days, Reagan went with Anthony Kennedy, an Irish Catholic judge from his home state of California.

Kennedy and O'Connor became swing votes and unreliable as constitutional conservatives. But, on diversity grounds, Reagan can hardly be faulted.

George H.W. Bush chose David Souter, a white Protestant from New Hampshire, who followed Stevens left, and Clarence Thomas, an African-American from Pin Point, Ga. Thomas was savaged, but his counter-charge of having been subjected to a "high-tech lynching" knocked Democrats back on their heels and drove a wedge between party liberals and feminists and Democratic conservatives.

In replacing Chief Justice Rehnquist and O'Connor with John Roberts and Alito, George W. Bush succeeded as no other Republican president since World War II. He had not only tilted the court to constitutionalism, but also replaced two white Protestants justices with two white Catholic justices, one of whom is the second Italian-American on the court.

Where does that leave the court today?

When Sotomayor is approved by the Senate, the court will, in terms of religious minorities, consist of six Catholics, two Jews and one Protestant. Ethnically, there will be one African-American, one Hispanic American, one Irish-American, two Jewish-Americans, two Italian Americans and two Anglos.

That is diversity, is it not?

And who is the least represented minority in America on the U.S. Supreme Court? Not Catholics, who have two-thirds of the seats. Not Jewish-Americans, who though 2 percent of the population, have 22 percent of the seats. Not African-Americans, who at 13 percent of the population have 11 percent of the seats. And not Hispanics, who at 15 percent of the population will have 11 percent of the seats.

No, the most underrepresented group of Americans -- nay, the most unrepresented minority, the largest group of our fellow citizens never to have had one of its own sit on the U.S. Supreme Court in the modern era is -- Evangelical Christians.

They are more numerous than Catholics, who at 24 percent of the population have 67 percent of the seats on the court. And, for Republicans, they are a far more reliable voting bloc than Catholics -- not to mention Hispanics, Jews and African-Americans, all of whom voted somewhere between two to one and 20 to one for Obama.

Bush II tried to close the Evangelical gap with Harriet Miers, but conservatives opposed her as unqualified.

Republicans should now be searching for highly qualified Evangelical Christian judges and constitutional scholars, women as well as men -- and, when falsely accused of being "anti-Hispanic" or "anti-woman," ought to reply: "What do you liberals have against white Christians, man or woman, not to have named one in 45 years?"

Everybody can play the diversity game.

Democrats Block GOP Health Care Mailing - Roll Call

Democrats are preventing Republican House Members from sending their constituents a mailing that is critical of the majority’s health care reform plan, blocking the mailing by alleging that it is inaccurate.
House Republicans are crying foul and claiming that the Democrats are using their majority to prevent GOP Members from communicating with their constituents.

The dispute centers on a chart (view PDF) created by Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) and Republican staff of the Joint Economic Committee to illustrate the organization of the Democratic health care plan.

At first glance, Brady’s chart resembles a board game: a colorful collection of shapes and images with a web of lines connecting them.

But a closer look at the image reveals a complicated menagerie of government offices and programs that Republicans say will be created if the leading Democratic health care plan becomes law.

In a memo sent Monday to Republicans on the House franking commission, Democrats argue that sending the chart to constituents as official mail would violate House rules because the information is misleading.

In their eight-point memo, which was obtained by Roll Call, Democrats identify a litany of areas where they believe the chart is incorrect.

For example, Democrats argue that the chart depicts a “Health Insurance Exchange Trust Fund” that is “simply a recipient of IRS funds, with no outflow. ... This is false.”

The chart’s illustration of low-income subsidies is also “misleading and false,” Democrats argue.

Congressional rules for franked mail bar Members from using taxpayer-funded mail for newsletters that use “partisan, politicized or personalized” comments to criticize legislation or policy.

The dispute over Brady’s chart is being reviewed by the franking commission, which must approve any mail before it can be sent. No decision had been made on the matter by press time.

Brady adamantly denied that the chart was misleading and said Democrats are simply threatened by the content of the graphic.

“I think their review was laughable,” Brady said. “It’s ... downright false in most of the cases. The chart depicts their health care plan as their committees developed it.”

“The chart reveals how their health care bureaucracy works, and people are frightened by it,” he added. “So this is their effort to try and discredit” the chart.

Republican Members have made 20 requests to mail a version of the chart to their constituents and have been told that the requests are being delayed while the commission reviews allegations that the chart is misleading.

“Hiding the truth about wildly unpopular policies is a Democrat specialty,” said one GOP aide. “I’d like to see the flow chart on how Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi plans on implementing the open and transparent government she keeps promising everyone.”

“We have initiated discussions with the minority to try and resolve current differences and are operating in good faith to achieve that goal,” said Kyle Anderson, a spokesman for House Administration Chairman Robert Brady (D-Pa.). The committee has oversight of the commission.

Rep. Dan Lungren (R-Calif.), ranking member of the committee and a member of the franking commission, said through a spokeswoman that he is also aware of the situation and is working with the members of the franking commission to resolve the differences, but he added that he believed Democrats on the commission were overreaching.

“He strongly believes that the franking commission does not have the authority to deny Member communications based on partisan differences of pending legislation,” said Salley Collins, a spokeswoman for Lungren.

The franking commission is made up of three Democrats and three Republicans.

Republicans quickly embraced Brady’s chart, and over the past week about 50 Members have posted it on their Congressional Web sites or used it in a floor speech. It has also been posted on the home page of the Republican National Committee.

All the problems with the American health care system come from government intervention, so naturally the Democrats' idea for fixing it is more government intervention. This is like trying to sober up by having another drink.

The reason seeing a doctor is already more like going to the DMV, and less like going to the Apple "Genius Bar," is that the government decided health care was too important to be left to the free market. Yes -- the same free market that has produced such a cornucopia of inexpensive goods and services that, today, even poor people have cell phones and flat-screen TVs.

As a result, it's easier to get your computer fixed than your health. Thanks, government!

We already have near-universal health coverage in the form of Medicare, Medicaid, veterans' hospitals, emergency rooms and tax-deductible employer-provided health care -- all government creations.

So now, everyone expects doctors to be free. People who pay $200 for a haircut are indignant if it costs more than a $20 co-pay to see a doctor.

Dear Fellow Conservative,

You know what really irritates me about liberals? (Besides the fact that they're spineless little girls in pretty dresses who can't play rough because it musses up their hair...)

They always think liberalism fixes the problem -- even when it was liberalism that caused the problem in the first place!

Case in point, the Financial Meltdown of 2008 (and counting). To hear liberals tell it, it all goes back to Ronald Reagan -- who with his seductive "B-actor" charm fooled America into thinking that by slashing taxes, regulation, and government spending we could unleash free enterprise and create a new wave of prosperity.

Sure, liberals concede, that seemed to work for, oh, the better part of three decades, but now we're paying the price for all that "greed." The solution? A return to the pre-Reagan policies of Jimmy Carter, LBJ, FDR... Speaking of which, what will victory look like in the "War on Poverty"? When are they going to produce an "exit strategy" from that quagmire?

Unfortunately, the facts -- as always when you're talking about liberal theories -- tell a different story. A story in which all the major villains, it turns out, have one thing in common: government.

That's right. From the "Community Reinvestment Act" that pressured banks into affirmative-action lending, to those "government-sponsored enterprises" Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac -- who bought up all the resulting subprime loans and repackaged them as "investment grade" securities -- the greasy thumb-prints of government were all over this fiasco from beginning to end.

But those, as I say, are facts. And facts have no place in the fantasy world of Democratic policy-makers. Nor does history -- true history, that is, as opposed to the public-school propaganda that teaches, for instance, that FDR's New Deal got us out of the Great Depression, when in reality it only deepened and prolonged it.

But the question remains: What can those of us in the fast-dwindling, Reality-Based Community do to survive financially as the Obamacrats prepare a "New New Deal" that threatens to outspend the original by about ten thousand to one?

Personally, I don't have a clue. But thank goodness I know of someone who does.

His name is Mark Skousen, Ph.D., editor of the investment newsletter Forecasts & Strategies -- and he just might be the smartest financial advisor working today.

And when he told his subscribers in 1995 that the NASDAQ would double, and then double again -- which is exactly what it did.

And when, just weeks before the NASDAQ collapsed in 2000, he warned his subscribers that tech stocks were dangerously overvalued.

And when, in 2006 -- more than two years before the financial meltdown -- he warned subscribers that "we clearly are headed for fiscal disaster," and showed them how to protect themselves.
What's Skousen's secret? I think it begins with understanding the real laws of economics -- not the warmed-over Marxism that passes for "new thinking" to Obama's media groupies.

And here's the best thing about Mark Skousen. He knows how to make you money no matter how bad things get in the financial markets and the economy overall.

After all, he points out, the late billionaire John Templeton -- whom Money magazine called "the greatest stock-picker of the 20th century" -- began to build his vast fortune in the depths of the Great Depression.

Consider the latest Government Ponzi Scheme. The State of California issues IOUs to pay its bills. Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase and Wells Fargo make the IOUs good. The federal government gives these banks money to cover IOUs. The federal government collects more money (taxes) from the citizens and businesses to raise more money to fuel this vicious cycle.

Now whether or not you even believe in global warming set aside, this bill will cost a LOT of money. How, you ask? Well, because the added cost is going to be passed off to the consumer. Even Obama said himself that energy costs will NECESSARILY SKYROCKET. Heritage has released a report that estimate the skyrocketing cost to average nearly $4000.00 per household and up to $6000.00 per family of 4 by 2050. That is much more than what they are tilling you it is going to cost. I remember Biden saying that it will cost equivalent to a postage stamp a day. (Boy, is that one gold plated stamp!)

I bet you thought that if you bought a house, you actually own it and can, with reasonable exceptions, do with it what you want. You probably think that if you want to live in a log cabin, with wood stoves that belch smoke into the air for heat, and an old washer and dryer that don't have those little EnergyStar stickers on them you can because it's your life and your property. You paid for it with money you earned with the sweat of your brow and what the heck is America anyhow if a body can't live in the home they want furnished with the appliances they want?
Ah, silly you. You didn't reckon on the Democratic Party's desire to control every miniscule aspect of your life.
Let me introduce you to a little section of the Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade bill called the "Building Energy Performance Labeling Program". It's section 304 of the bill and it says, basically, that your house belongs to the state. See, the Federal Government really wants a country full of energy-efficient homes, so much so that the bill mandates that new homes be 30 percent more energy efficient than the current building code on the very day the law is signed. That efficiency goes up to 50 percent by 2014 and only goes higher from there, all the way to 2030. That, by the way, is not merely a target but a requirement of the law. New homes must reach those efficiency targets no matter what.

The article goes on to explain that the state will have to inspect your home for it's GREEN-NESS before (yes I said BEFORE) you can sell your home. You will have to meet certain GREEN guidelines if you do any renovations which will be inspected once completed. Even if you change the name on your utility bill, it will have to be inspected to make sure it meets up with the GREEN CODES!

Oh, and if you still want to install that in ground pool, or hot tub - you will probably have to unplug every other appliance and turn off every light for the rest of the day to make sure you meet the requirement of lessening your efficiency percentage. Get ready to limit your computer time to about once a week. I guess it won't be so bad...I mean my grandmother used to use a wringer-washer. I'm sure that if I put enough candles in the middle of our living room we can stay warm as we huddle together in blankets in the middle of January. At least I won't have to worry about taking down Christmas lights since I won't be willing to sacrifice those watts in case I want to warm a mug of hot cocoa in the microwave.

Rediculas - YES INDEED! And on top of all this, if this bill passes through senate, it won't even address the so called, "climate crisis" that it is being passed off as to help. Nope, not even by 1 degree over the next 80 YEARS! It will help this so called huge climate crisis of GLOBAL WARMING by about - .0025%. (crickets chirping)

What! No applause? No bowing to the Great Obama who will proclaim that we have now saved the earth single handedly? And I do mean singlehandedly, as China and India refuse to follow suit saying that it would be economic suicide in the midst of a depression. Hmmm?

I am writing this to you as a friend, a family member, and because some of you have asked me to keep you abreast of what is going on. While the world watches the hearings of Sonya Sotomayor to be the first Latina Supreme court justice...we have to wonder what is going on while this diversion is keeping the media and the public eye sidetracked.

Well let me inform you on some of those things. As Senators were giving their 10 minute speeches Monday, Obama unveiled his proposal for health care. Please research this out as it is all about rationing and taking the free choice out of your hands and into a man in washington!

This is a very informative video regarding obamacare. Inform yourselves about what kind of healthcare Obama is really talking about. This is very very disturbing what He and Pelosi is trying to push through and we MUST fight this!! There is a reason he is pushing to get it done before fall recess in August. He is yet again pushing something very important and that will affect each and everyone of us quickly through, not even allowing time for politicians to read it (just like the stimulas packages, just like capp and trade bill, just like everything he is pushing through).

Please view this video by Mr. Morris and other videos he has uploaded to youtube. I would also suggest reading his book Catastrophe. I am currently reading his book and find it filled to the brim with stats and facts but is very readable and understandable even to me.

Next, I would recommend that everyone buy Glenn Becks book Common Sense. It is less than $7 at wal-mart or other book stores and is a very very very good book. It is a very quick read as well as written for some of us who are new to politics and such. It has been in the top sellers list since it's release and is the best few bucks you can spend to inform yourself about the constitution and how big gov't is trampling all over it.

I know some of you feel that this is a hopeless cause. That our represenatives don't listen to us anyway. Some of you even consistently admonish that God is in control and to not worry, and feel this stance gives you the right to "opt out" of what is going on in America. I challenge all of you who have either stance or a variety of others which keeps you from sticking a political little toe into the pool...THIS IS YOUR COUNTRY! If you don't stand for something you will fall for anything - which has only been proven in the state our country is in and what obama is preparing to change our country into.

Many of you do not know that currently Obama has over 34 Czars. Yep, I said Czars. They are accountable to NO ONE except Obama himself. They are appointed by no one except Obama and no one knows what their jobs really are...including Congress, Senate, etc. No one knows anything except Obama has complete control over all 34 Czars. This is a blatant spit in the face of the American people as a muddy food tramples The Constitution. Our Constitution is a system of checks and balances between the 3 branches of Gov't - Judical, Legislative, and Executive branches. The Czars have no such balance nor checks and is therefore unconstitutional.

There is a Hate Crimes Bill moving into the Senate which will protect the rights of pedophiles. It will also make it illegal for a pastor to preach a sermon regarding homosexuality in any light other than a positve one punishable by prison. Because they cannot get enough votes for this bill as is...they are working to add the bill as an ammendment to the Military budget. This will strong arm yes votes as who would want to be known as the politician who voted against the funds needed to support our troupes. This is politics as usual from the leftist progressives.

The capp and trade (or Capp & Tax is it is more commonly known) is heading to the Senate soon. This has nothing to do about the environment and everything to do with grabbing power and taxing every penny they can. Or should I say dollars as in Billions.

Let's review...itemized list of some of Barack Obama's most recent Actions since his inauguration:

1. His first call to any head of state, as president, was to Mahmoud Abbas, leader of Fatah party in the Palestinian territory.
2. His first one-on-one television interview with any news organization was with Al Arabia television.
3. His first executive order was to fund/facilitate abortion(s) not just here within the U. S., but within the world, using U. S. tax payer funds.

6. He withdrew all charges against the masterminds behind the USS Cole and the "terror attack" on 9/11.
7. Now we learn that he is allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refuges to move to, and live in, the US at American taxpayer expense.

Hello. I recently posted photos of a Wisconsin Tea Party. My husband took the photos. Our almost 11 year old son told his dad, "congratulations, you are now officially deemed a terrorist." Can that be so and how would my 10 year old know things like this? Weird stuff. I wanted my husband to take our son along to the TEA party to teach him what peaceful demonstration was all about. It is a part of our fabric and history and thought it might be a good social studies lesson. Yeh...I use to home school him and always looked for opportunities to teach him history and social studies by doing things but now he is in public school. But, where the heck did that comment come from? I guess I am naive or something. Did the public school system teach him that he should not peacefully demonstrate or he would be considered a terrorist? I just don't get it.

So, now in honor of all of you that bow down to Mr. Perfect, Mr. President, (at the risk of being labeled a terrorist by executing my freedom of speech), Nice butt! Hmmm, wonder what Michelle thought about that photo op!
